Adventure STEM

Hi! I'm Abby, a 7th grade student at Adventure STEM. This website is where you can see my experience of my past two years here. I look back to when I first came, and now being here has helped me mature and grow as an individual. To begin, everyday here has been a learning experience for me. I've learned so much over the past two years I've been here, and gained many qualities as an Adventure student.

To be an Adventure student, you have to have access to technology and you have to know how to use it. Here, we learn how to type, keyboard shortcuts, coding, and a lot of other things. When I first came, I didn't really understand anything because I wasn't as exposed to technology before, but I quickly adapted with the help of classmates and teachers. Pretty much everything we do requires technology. Stuff like turning things in, checking our grades, and class updates are done everyday using it.

Being an Adventure student also requires responsibility. It is a huge trait used everyday, and we are trained well to use it here. Our "once a zero, always a zero" policy helps us practice responsibility. This year, it became a rule. At first it was hard because I was always so used to turning things in right before the term ended and not on the acrual due date, but it became almost like an instinct to turn stuff in right away, even if I'm not finished with it.

Lastly, being an Adventure student means to be motivated. I've learned that you can be super smart, but you need to be motivated or else it's hard to get things done. We all have a goals we're working torwards. Maybe it's keeping a GPA of 3.85 or above, or maybe it's to create a multi-level action game. Without motivation, we can't accomplish these things. Adventure helps us with that by giving us freedom, but still having boundaries. Unlike most schools, we're able to walk around the class and collaborate, choose projects that fit the topic we're working towards, and ask for help.

In conclusion, I think these are three things that you should have to be an Adventure student because they will help us with everyday things when we are older and have jobs and goals. Adventure helps us persue what we eventually want to do, and motivates us to take over the world!
